Since I last posted just after Christmas so much has
been happening around our house. So much that I find myself
saying who are these boys? My little newborn
Hudson is .8 already!! He is all smiles and so full of
life and amazingly he is completely enthralled with his big brother-
which I'm astonished at considering how Carter is all boy and
seems to think Hudson wants to be his horsey, or at other times he thinks
he's a monkey and he pulls his ears to demonstrate it. But Carter has really
grown up I guess and he is becoming super verbal and helpful! He sings the ABC
song all day while he plays and still loves music! He is also obsessed
with his doodle board and loves having us write letters so he can name
them off. And I go when did this happen? How did we
go from animal noises and grunting to knowing the whole alphabet,
counting to ten, and saying please and thank you with out being told?
I can see that Hudson will soon move from rolling everywhere to army
crawling and before I know it he to will be talking my ear off, and I just
remind myself to cherish everyday because they sure go fast!

The Holidays

We had a great Christmas around our house!
I love Christmas time, especially when it snows!
We had a great time being with Carter and Hudson,
while Nick was on break! It snowed, we relaxed, played
and spent time with friends and family. Carter was
excited about everything this year- opening
presents he would rip open one and then say more
not because he wanted more toys just more ripping action...
it was the same thing with Christmas lights, we'd drive
by a house with lights and point it out and he'd say more!
He also really latched onto the story of Jejus as he
was calling him, and at Christmas eve service
he kept yelling Jejus and amen! Lately he
wont go to sleep without a prayer and it's so darn cute!
Hudson had been so giggly and had some quality
time napping with Daddy and hanging in the Bjorn with
Mom while she shopped or worked at Mango Ink cards!
I think part of the reason Christmas was so fun this
year was because we weren't so consumed with spending
and buying instead we did things simple and planned to spend
less so we could give more and in the midst of it we found
ourselves feeling really grateful for the community around us!

This year has been the perfect Fall in Spokane
we've had sunny hot days and sunny cool crisp days
with a little rain here and there which has been
perfect for playing with the boys!

One of those sunny warm days meant matching
outfits and carter pointing out hudson's nose.

Well there is so much ground to cover that we'll get the first month and a half now and do the fair and greenbluff next post! We've had a great time with these two boys the past few months! Carter is now 2 and he had a super fun monkey party, we've had lots of visitors, and even went with the teen moms to summer camp! Carter has started potty training and is still obsessed with trucks, animals, and books! Nick is back to school now and we are still adjusting! I can see Hudson and Carter playing and loving life really soon but for now we're enjoying our snuggly baby and our moving toddler!

After 5 days of waiting in the hospital we had Hudson on July
23rd! He was only 35 weeks and 4 days but amazed us when
he popped out at 6lbs 9oz and only spent a few hours in
the NICU- we were preparing for up to two
weeks! He is a sweet baby just like
his brother and has been eating great and
snuggling a lot! Carter is getting used to the
idea that he is now the big brother, but I think
he's going to do a great job! We are so thankful
that Hudson is healthy and that we got to take
him home with us! I'm thankful that Nick
is still on summer break and I get to have him home
right now as we adjust to two! He has been so
amazing and helpful and I'm so lucky to be married
to such a patient man!

Here are some pictures of Carter in the
two weeks before Hudson arrived! We ended up spending the
five days before hudson's arrival with mom at the
hospital and dad bringing Carter up for the day.
We tried our best to stay entertained in our room at the hilton
as we lovingly called it:) While we were there our close
friends the Katy & JJ Vancil had their baby Owen

and it was really fun to get to be there during that special time! We
were super thankful that they were monitoring me so close this time after
all the craziness with the birth of Carter!Owen Vancil!

Here are some pictures form summer so far! It seems like
it has been flying by, but it's been so nice to have Nick home
and to get to enjoy Carter and his exploring whimsical personality
before his brother Hudson arrives!

The edwards house has been in full swing
the past month and we are sure ready
for summer! Lilly and Carter have
been loving the few days of sun we've had
and playing in the yard!
I know this summer will be filled with
sprinklers, digging in dirt,
and lots of Popsicles!
Baby edwards is also moving right along,
he'll be 30 weeks this weekend and
seems to be as wild as his brother-
we may name him ninja instead of Hudson!
Nick will be done with school on Friday,
and he's also the recipient of a
shiny new masters degree in
administration! Celina is wrapping
up her Sophomore year and has recently
begun working at a local burger
restaurant named Chattees and
she really likes it and is doing a great job!
We will probably be sticking close to
home this summer as Hudson's arrival
creeps up on us and we work on
the basement project to make more space
for baby swings and toys, but we'd love
any visitors who want to come our way!
We may make some short trips to
see some new babies,
camp or crash a wedding,
so maybe we'll see you out there...
until then we will do out best to keep
the pictures coming!

Carter is also learning to drive the car, he's also recently
obsessed with taking the keys and trying
to unlock the door- which results in Daddy asking about the
new design on the side of the car...

Oh this meal require no spoon and lots of
face painting- forget the new-found skills
when you are having this much fun!

Carter is now 20 months old and he continues to
be such a joy to us! He loves entertaining
and being entertained! He loves
his poppa,playing outside, playing in water,
wearing sunglasses, standing in and
on everything, dancing, looking at the
world through any container
or lid or anything, and he is so very silly! He
has always been learning to share and to play
nice because we have had some changes
around our house. Three weeks ago we
moved Celina a 16 year old teen mom and her
18month old daughter into our house...
long story short is they didn't have a safe
secure place to live, so we prayed about
it and moved them in. I've known Celina for
a little over a year, and have
been mentoring her through the program I run for
teen moms... YoungLives
she is a sophomore in high school and a
great mom! She just got her drivers license on
Thursday and we are proud of her and all she
is striving to do in her life! Her daughter Lilly
couldn't be any more dainty and girly
and it's fun to watch Carter
and her learn to share
and how to play and love each other.
Yes our house is now twice as crazy, noisy
and messy but it's worth it!

A brother for Carter!

The Edwards Family found out a little over a week ago that we are having another
BABY BOY!!! We are super excited
and can't wait for Carter to have a little brother to
pal around with! The ultrasound was super clear because this little guy wouldn't show his face...
he was spine up and legs
apart so there wasn't much chance of keeping it a secret- we aren't the secret type anyways!

Well we have some ultrasound pictures from our doctors appointments with
baby numero dos. We will find out later this month or early next month what
type of friend Carter will be enjoying come next August! There are less ultrasound pictures
this time around due to the fact that Carter was with me and was standing next to the table
trying his best to get up on my lap- at both appointments- so the tech was moving
quickly to get some shots and measurements!

profile, little feet, fingers, so amazing!

Nick has already decided it's another Honcoop
nose, because he's convinced a baby with
his nose would be much more pronounced!

Carter is smiley, wiggly, and full of noisy sounds as ever!
He's now 18 months old and he is everwhere! Because he's
into everything he keeps finding funny things he wants me to put
on him such as turquoise earmuffs straight out of the 80's, sunglasses,
hats, Molly dog's harness, a medal- which I'm asked all the time what
his medal is for when I forget and we head to the store medal and all,
he even uses his bike as a prop for standing on and
for making a show out of, oh and did I mention the dancing
( oh man what a crack up)... We think he's working on
being the youngest YL program director ever! We are having a lot of fun
at our house, and poor Nick now has two crazy people to put up with!

December so far has been really busy and full of fun!
We started off the month with the Christmas tree
adventure... we found the perfect tree and Carter was super excited
about it all is year! We went to Coeur d' Alene and
looked at lights and Carter was in awe! He kept
pointing at everything and wanting to run over and
touch everything! At my staff Christmas party he meant Santa,
and didn't cry! He also rode around a John Deere
tractor for a good part of the afternoon- Lynden be proud!
He has been wearing a certain pair of snowman pjs constantly
since he received them in the mail!
Recently we had a Christmas party and Carter was
busy pointing and babbling to everyone
in sight! I hope your Christmas is
filled with rich time with family and friends!

Pumpkin Man

We Went to the pumpkin patch with Melissa and Carter loved the pumpkin picking as much as the apple picking! We mostly wanted to walk from pumpkin to pumpkin putting the dirt in his mouth- such a boy! I know October is long gone but here is our time at the pumpkin patch with one smiley boy!

Well Carter is now walking from place to place, getting into everything
reading books, laughing a ton and really getting quite the
personality. He will pretend to rub his nose if he doesn't want to eat what you are feeding him to block your hand! He loves baths still and is very interested in books- good job grandma for always reading to him. Each day he adds steps to his run he's now up to 14, but with how fast he crawls I can see why he hasn't needed walking thus far. He especially enjoyed the apple orchard and pumpkin patch pictures are coming! He likes to eat the apples on his own in between his two paws biting little baby bites out of it! Next weekend we are leaving him with the Grandmas and going to visit some friends in the New York area for the weekend. We are sure going to miss his yells across thee house and his silly faces while we are gone but it will be fun to visit! Oh and he is also going to be seriously confused as to which football team to cheer for, he's got an eagles jersey, romo shirt and a friend with the cheese head that he likes to wear! We sure love his smiles and it's so fun to see him explore EVERYTHING!

Carter had a great first birthday, actually he had two of them... the first one was up in Lynden because cousin Dillon got married the day after his Birthday. He had a temperature of 103 on his real Birthday but he still put on his game face and laughed, ate cake, opened presents (sort of) and showed a little bit of his personality... the second birthday he wore a sweater vest- that's right and he really hammed it up! Lots of friends came to celebrate with him and we had a great time! He is not walking yet, but gets around still, he is full of shouts, smiles, and big bear hugs! He's such a happy boy but he is a boy and lets his yells and growls be heard across the grocery store! We are so blessed by him and wouldn't want him any other way!

Carter will be one in 4 days and I can't believe how fast the year has gone, it seems like we was just 5 pounds and swimming in his clothes and snuggling at every chance! He is growing into a joyful curious little boy with 6 going on 7 teeth, lots of hair, a chin dimple, major personality and a yes he still loves to be cuddled unless there is something more interesting on the floor, wall, in the air... I feel so blessed to be his mom and to have an amazing husband who loves being a dad and hanging with Carter and I, he gets up at 3 and rocks him back to sleep, he changes diapers, and loves napping with him snuggled on his chest, it's so fun to watch... I am so lucky!

I recently found a new carrying apparatus for Carter...
look closely and you'll see where he is!
He wants to see outside so so bad so he attempts to climb
the window...yet another gifted skill!
I know he'll be walking sooner than I think!
Jordan was back from Afganistan so we did
the BBQ, catch up tell old stories thing!
He loved meeting Carter and holding him!
He enjoyed being the life of the party!
We saw old friends- Melissa Jones!
Carter is also helping me clean the house these days!

We went Strawberry picking a few weeks ago
and Carter had so much fun...

We may have stained the shirt
but it was so worth it! I mean look at that
drool, he was enjoying those berries!

Most of his were this same green color
but he wanted to pick them HimSelf!

It was usually like this, a little straw
and if he aimed it right a little berry.

Then he spotted the basket...

Then it was Carter's dream come true he

More like a bear if you ask me, but
that's Carter quite the adventurer!

TEXAS

Ok so I know we went to Texas a month ago, but I've been

on summer vacation with my postings I guess and these pictures are too good to not post!
Carter became this crazy active little boy while we were in Texas...
he was army crawling before we left, and when we got home he was regular speed crawling. He began pulling himself up on everything while we were there, he his first 4 teeth and began eating
lots of new food! It was so fun to see my grandparents and my aunt and uncle... and Carter had a blast playing and swimming, sightseeing and swimming, laughing and swimming!

Carter has grown and changed so much this past month I can't believe it! He sits up and plays with his toys for a good 15-30 minutes, he seems more aware, he smiles when I bring out the camera and he smiles and talks to everyone who looks at him- a charmer already! He is scooting backwards but not crawling yet, and he is loving baby food! He gets mad when it runs out and looks like a little bird with his arms wide open and his mouth wide open waiting for you to feed him! We are so amazed by him everyday and are so lucky to get to be parents... although it's hard at times it's so fun and we wouldn't trade it for anything!

So I really have been needing to post and was waiting to

We headed to Lynden for Thanksgiving and

Last weekend we went to Greenbluff with Katy & JJ!

It was perfect and not too busy, there were even
green pumpkins!

Thankful Thursday

My friend Darcy blognapped this from her friend and inspired me to do the same! I don't focus on what I am thankful for often enough!

1. My husband who also happens to be a great dad!

2. The community of friends and family that surround us here in Spokane.

3. Carter and his sweet innocence, his funny faces, and that nuggle worthy baby smell...

4. The wine club, that challenges me to grow and think more than I have in a long time.

5. The opportunity to work with teen moms, and the gift of staying home with my baby boy.

6. The fall, I can't help it it, there is just something about the colors, the smells, the crunchy leaves that makes my heart sing and my face smile!

3 weeks of Carter!!!

The past few weeks have flown by!!!

We went from Bili lights for his Jaundice to a
visit from Great- Grandma & Aunt Cindy...
we took a trip to Coeur d' Alene and
played in the leaves at Manito Park!
Plus we've done a lot of eating, sleeping, pooping
and GROWING!!!

Carter had so much fun playing in the leaves,
can't you tell!!!
(he even has one in his hand- yes if
you are wondering we think he's gifted!!)

I Love Fall!!!

The last weekend of summer, we went
to Cd'A & enjoyed the sun!

ISN'T HE SWEET!

A Very in love Grandma!

Since I've been home from the hospital
My mom has been so great about coming every day
and making sure I have everything I need, and of course
she's also giving Carter lots of love!

My brother and his wife Becca came from Seattle as soon as
they heard we were in the hospital, Becca is a Labor and
Delivery nurse and was a huge help!

Carter arrived 3 weeks early!
(here's why...)

Last Thursday I went into the Labor and Delivery with what I thought was heartburn and maybe a gallbladder problem... and found out I had a rare complication in my pregnancy called HELLP syndrome. The short story is that this syndrome is where the body starts to attack it's own red blood cells and platelets causing elevate liver levels, my platelet count was 28,000 and a normal count would be 150,000- problematic because platelets allow your body to clot and in birth there is bleeding... the only cure for this is delivery, so I underwent an emergency C-section and we now have a beautiful baby boy named Carter Harrison Edwards! The risk was that because of the lack of platelets that the inscision would no be able to stop bleeding on the inside of my body causing a life threatening situation. We both came out of surgery, and although my body did continue to lose blood, platelets and cause dangerous liver levels on day one we rallied and because of 3 blood transfusions, 6 platelet transfusions and the God healing me I am here! (I never knew the importance of giving blood until now!) After 5 days in the hospital we are home and getting healthier by the day, Carter is slightly jaundiced but they set up his light treatment in our home- he's the cutest glowworm around! God was truly protecting our family, and I am still in awe of how he knows the plans for us and that he promises not to fail us but to protect us and give a hope and a future! Thank you for all your prayers and support, knowing that you are there loving us and praying for us means so much!

2 showers, and a trip to the lake

August was a busy month, so here is the update of what happened with the
family edwards in the month of August!

My friends Melissa and Erin threw a fun shower for me!The diaper game- open the diaper, guess the candy...
I tried each one of course!

I know we are having a boy, this pink pretty thing is for me
to wear after Carter is born... we decided that I
should not wear it around Nick to prevent another
baby coming too soon!

Another game was guess how big the bump is by cutting
a piece of string and then checking it with my belly!

So many cute clothes for Carter! I'm going to have to change him
twice a day to fit them all in!

We went on a Camping trip to lake Wentachee!

It was so beautiful while we were there!

We took a small hike to a waterfall!

1. I really like cotton candy... so much that I secretly hope to go to events like Disney on Ice just so I can get some cotton candy.
2. I don't like being cold ... Darcy said this on her blog but I love getting into my car on a 90 degree day after being in a freezing cold building and just sitting there with the windows up in the pure heat... it feels so so good!
3. I have to be honest the idea of me having the baby freaks me out a bit... I don't know what to do and my mom keeps saying, "don't worry people in our family have fast labors" but I don't want to plan for this fast labor and end up in the hospital for 30 some hours... so what are we doing? Oh were taking a lamaze class on a DVD in our living room... nothing like being prepared!
4. I love a summer rain and lightening storm! I Billings it would downpour so hard that people wouldn't want their kids outside because they thought they'd get swept away, and then it would lightening for the next two hours and we'd sit on this ridge and watch it... that's one of the few things I like about Billings... and the smell after it rains oh it's so perfect!
5. Fall in Spokane is my favorite season... when we lived in MT I drove back for a weekend just to have fall here... it's perfect... with crisp smells and it's a little cold but you only need a light sweater,there's Greenbluff, when you go for a run the leaves crunch, & the smell of wood stoves with the cool air on your nose... like I said for a month and a half it's the perfect season... plus it's when Target puts out the mittens that I must have every year... Janny understands!
6. Ummm after all that about fall I can't think of anything else but fall so I guess my 6th is that I am quirky and weird and I love that Nick loves that about me!
